Before the SFVAS meeting last night, photographer Dave Collins did a portrait of me holding a printout of my book cover for BACKYARD BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY. The book hasn’t hit the warehouse yet, but I understand a number of thousands of copies have already sold. This is a good omen.
Today, I was invited for a little outing to the beach and look what I saw. The gulls were flying over Malibu and Santa Monica in the distance. Meanwhile, the surfers rode by.
Kelly O’Reilly, environmental scientist with the California Department of Fish and Game, gave a lecture at our meeting San Fernando Valley Audubon Society meeting tonight on the threatened and endangered birds of Bolsa Chica. I had to watch for a long time and take a lot of photos to get a small number of good shots, but it was worth it. These are just a few samples as the sun’s shadow fell over the moon. This was before the “blood moon.”
