Before the SFVAS meeting last night, photographer Dave Collins did a portrait of me holding a printout of my book cover for BACKYARD BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY. The book hasn’t hit the warehouse yet, but I understand a number of thousands of copies have already sold. This is a good omen. 
Today, I was invited for a little outing to the beach and look what I saw. The gulls were flying over Malibu and Santa Monica in the distance. Meanwhile, the surfers rode by.
Portrait of the moon. 
Kelly O’Reilly, environmental scientist with the California Department of Fish and Game, gave a lecture at our meeting San Fernando Valley Audubon Society meeting tonight on the threatened and endangered birds of Bolsa Chica. I’m not sure what Bugs Bunny has to do with King Kong, except that it’s Easter weekend. But I made a cartoon out of the image. 
I had to watch for a long time and take a lot of photos to get a small number of good shots, but it was worth it. These are just a few samples as the sun’s shadow fell over the moon. This was before the “blood moon.”
